Josh Hamilton Signs With the Angels

Southern California Baseball is back! The LA Angels have signed Josh Hamilton to a 5 years, $125 million deal. I saw the news last night that the Angels were in serious negotiations and I feel like Anaheim is a great place for him to play. He really won't be playing in a big city like Los Angeles, Boston or New York plus he has Trout and Pujols to take pressure off of him.

The four games between the Dodgers and Angels this year are going to be great!

Can't wait for Opening Day!

Dodgers Sign Korean Pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu

It's official! The rotation is beginning to look amazing. Ryu is also bringing back the 99 jersey, I can't wait for the season to start. I'm glad the Dodgers didn't give Scott Boras what he wanted.

From ESPN:
The Dodgers signed Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu shortly before a Sunday deadline, wrapping up a productive weekend in which they may have acquired their No. 2 and 3 starting pitchers.
Ryu's deal is for six years and sources told ESPN it's worth $36 million with an out clause that kicks in after the fifth year if he has pitched 750 or more innings.

Dodgers To Sign Zack Greinke to 6 year deal worth $147 million

Welcome to Los Angeles!
(Not Orange County)

Looks like the Dodgers are about to get their #2 starter for the next 6 years. They aren't done trying to sign another starting pitcher. They have until 2pm tomorrow to sign Ryu or they can go after Anibal Sanchez if that doesn't work out.

Source tells me Dodgers deal with Zach Greinke is actually $147 million over 6 years. Deal still pending physical.

The scoring type for the LA Inspiration group is confidence points. This way of picking games is more exciting because you can get more than just one point for a game. This gives people a chance to comeback even if they picked the same teams for a BCS game in January.

1st place

1st place winner will receive all of the cards pictured above and I will throw in a couple of other inserts/rookies.

I'd like to thank Topps for sponsoring and providing the prize for this contest.

Kobe Reaches 30K Points Milestone

Congratulations to Kobe Bryant on reaching 30,000 points for his career. He's the youngest to reach the milestone and only the 5th player to do so.

Kobe joined Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Michael Jordan (32,292) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) as one of the five players to reach the milestone.

If Kobe ever reaches Karl Malone, I believe he'll keep playing until he can pass Kareem Abdul Jabbar. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the future.

My First Duke Auto Plus Some Other Additions

It took a while to complete this trade but I can finally show off one of my latest additions. It's my first Duke Snider autograph and it comes from 2010 Topps Tribute. The card is numbered out of 50 and has three bat pieces. Tribute kind of has the same layout as Triple Threads when it comes to their triple relic autographs.

I made an overseas trade with a fellow collector on SCF. These usually take a couple weeks since they are going out of the country. I traded away a Kevin Love relic for this Blake Griffin relic which is numbered to 99. Since the K-Love relic was him in his Timberwolves uniform, I was willing to trade it away for something better.

I picked up this Clayton Kershaw Triple Threads Relic numbered to 18 for only $5 on eBay. It's my second one from the unity set, but unfortunately it's the same exact background. I'm only willing to trade the other one for either the middle or left side of the stadium.

Another eBay pick up for only $5 was this 2010 Panini Gridiron Gear Roddy White Patch. The card is numbered out of 50 and the patch has 3 different colors (Red, White, Black). I'm trying to grab as many Falcon patches as possible before they get too expensive which could have if they win the Super Bowl this season. (I'm just hoping for a playoff win though)

I traded away a couple of base cards and obtained these two relics. The first is an Adrian Gonzalez bat relic from the Topps 60 set and the second is a Kendry Morales Golden Moments jersey. Both are available for trade. I already have this A-Go relic in my collection.

I will be making a couple of post tomorrow about my COMC (Check Out My Cards) pick ups. I picked up quite a few so I'm going to break that into a couple of posts.

Thanks for looking!

Hideo Nomo Bobblehead Added to Promotional Schedule

Now that the Dodgers have announced that Hideo Nomo will have the 8th bobblehead, they only have one more remaining. I'm hoping for either Mike Piazza or Nancy Bea.

From the Dodgers:
The Dodgers have added a Hideo Nomo bobblehead to the 2013 promotional calendar. This will be the eighth bobblehead in next season’s series and is set for August 10 (vs. Rays). The first 50,000 fans on August 10 will receive a Nomo bobblehead. Nomo is scheduled to attend his bobblehead night and participate in a pre-game ceremonies at Dodger Stadium. This is the second Dodger Stadium bobblehead for Nomo (Aug. 24, 2002).

Nomo broke into the Majors in 1995 and had one of the best seasons for a pitcher in Dodger history, setting the single season franchise record for strikeouts per nine innings with 11.1 while ranking among the National League leaders in several pitching categories. That same season, the Japanese-born pitcher won the NL Rookie of the Year award, placed fourth in the NL Cy Young Award voting and was named to the NL All-Star Team. In seven seasons with the Dodgers, the right-hander posted an 81-66 record with a 3.74 ERA and threw the 10th no-hitter in Los Angeles Dodger franchise history on Sept. 17, 1996, the last no-hitter thrown by a Dodger and first of his two career no-hitters. Nomo played in 12 Major League seasons combined with Los Angeles, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, New York (NL), Boston, Detroit and Milwaukee.
Mini plan pricing starts at $11 and details are available at

Hyundai Sun Bowl: USC vs. Georgia Tech

The USC Trojans will take on the Georgia Tech in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on December 31st in El Paso, Texas, at 11:00am PST.

The USC Trojans finished their 2012 regular season with 4 losses in their final 5 games which included losses to Oregon, UCLA and Notre Dame.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets finished their regular season with 2 losses by Georgia and Florida State.

Matt Barkley is expected to play in his final game as a Trojan. I don't think this is what he meant by "Unfinished Business".

Los Angeles Galaxy Win Back to Back MLS Cup Championships

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Galaxy on winning their second straight MLS Cup! This is their 4th overall MLS Championship in their existence.

They defeated the Houston Dynamo by the score of 3-1 with their final two goals coming by penalty kicks from Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane.

Omar Gonzalez score the Galaxy's first goal at exactly 60 minutes to tie up the game and give the Galaxy momentum.

This was David Beckham's final U.S. game and it was great to see him go out with a bang.
