Lakers Win To Close Out 2010

That's the way to end the calendar year. 2010 was a great year including a 16th championship for the Lakers.

Lakers controlled the entire game. They were up double digits for most of the game until the 4th quarter when the 76ers tied the game with 1:33 left to play.

The 76ers had their chances in the final minute. Louis Williams and Jrue Holiday both missed 3 point shots with less than 15 seconds to play.

Jrue Holiday was unbelievable tonight. The former UCLA Bruin had 19 points and 11 assists. Lamar Odom was impressive off the bench once again with 18 points of his own.

Kobe hit two free throws with two seconds left to ice the game.

It should have never been this close, but the Lakers will take the win and extend their streak to two.

Key Numbers:
Kobe Bryant  33 pts
Andrew Bynum 8 pts, 15 rebs
Lamar Odom 18 pts, 7 rebs
Pay Gasol 20 pts, 8 rebs

Lamar Odom's Amazing Put Back Dunk

It wasn't planned, but it looked amazing. John Ireland asked him after the game about it and Lamar replied, "I took off to early."

Have a look for yourself:

Lakers Avoid 4-Game Skid; Beat Hornets

Los Angeles would be burning tonight if the Lakers lost their 4th game in a row.

Thanks to Phil Jackson, the Lakers finally won a game for the first time since December 19th. Andrew Bynum got his first start of the season tonight in New Orleans. The Hornets were (18-13) going into this game and were expected to give the Lakers some problems but David West went to the locker room earlier in the game with an ankle injury.

It was the best first half by the Lakers on the road this season. They had 15 assists, shot around 67% from the field, made 10 of their 11 free throws and lead 59-41 at the end of the first half.

Lamar Odom didn't slow down despite coming off the bench. He had a career high in points as a reserve with 24. He also had a Magic Johnson like play in the 4th quarter. [Video Link coming soon]

With less than a minute left in the game, Matt Barnes picked up two technical fouls and was ejected from the game.

It was also great to see D.J. Mbenga playing tonight against the Lakers.

Key Stats:
Kobe Bryant 20 Pts, 7 TOs
Pau Gasol 11 Pts, 12 Rebs
Lamar Odom 24 Pts
Derek Fisher 8 Asts

Lakers Lose Three Straight By 15 Or More

The Lakers aren't playing any offense or defense.

They were recently on a 5-game winning streak before the Milwaukee Bucks came into Staples Center last Tuesday and stunned them. Then the Miami Heat embarrassed the Lakers on Christmas Day.

The Lakers went into San Antonio to face the best team in the NBA right now. The Lakers lost 7 of their last 11 meetings in San Antonio before Tuesday nights game.

Spurs took a big lead into the 2nd quarter but then the Lakers fought back to take the lead at halftime. That was the only positive part of the night. Kobe received another technical. It was his fourth technical during the losing streak.

Kobe Bryant was 8-for-27 with only 21 points and Pau Gasol had 9 points with 9 rebounds.

During their 3-game losing steak, their average deficit is 16.6 points and averaging 80 points per game.

The last time the Lakers had 10 losses before the new year was in 2007.

I don't know what to expect tomorrow night against the Hornets.

LeBron Grinch Defeats Lakers For Second Straight Year On Christmas

It was ugly the entire game.

Lakers lost for the second straight year on Christmas Day. Both games came against Lebron.

Good thing it's only December and this game has no impact on how teams play in the playoffs. It would of been nice to beat the "Big 3" and the Heat.

Miami Heat can out shooting the entire game and the Lakers couldn't recover. The Heat's biggest lead of the game, 16, came in the 4th quarter.

Kobe struggled from the field only shooting 6-for-16 for 17 points. And Pau Gasol didn't help with his worst first half of his career with the Lakers. He was 3-for-11 in the first half and finished 8-for-17 with 17 points.

The Big 3 combined for 69 points and Lebron had his 31st career Triple-Double.

Too bad Lebron can't perform like this in the playoffs or else he'd have a championship.

The second straight blowout at home this week for the Lakers. Phil Jackson will fix this before the playoffs start. Do Not Panic!

Possible NFL Teams To Relocate To Los Angeles

Who would you want to come to Los Angeles if a group builds the NFL stadium in downtown Los Angeles?{LA Stadium Designs}

There are a couple of teams that might relocate to Los Angeles in a couple of years if the stadium is built. I want to focus on which players would make it exciting to go watch a game in Los Angeles.

Buffalo Bills - They don't really have any young players that stand out, which is one of the reasons they haven't been relevant for a long time. I wouldn't want them, so Toronto can have them.

Detroit Lions - Calvin Johnson Jr and Matthew Stafford could be a deadly combo if Stafford can stay healthy. They are a very young team with a sign of only getting better.

Jacksonville Jaguars - A lot of UCLA fans would be happy to see the return of Maurice Jones-Drew and Marcedes Lewis. Both played college at UCLA and are two reasons why the Jaguars are currently tied for 1st-place.

Minnesota Vikings - If the Vikings do relocate, they will have a stadium that won't collapse on them. Also they might have a new QB instead of Brett Favre. Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice can make a lethal offense.

Oakland Raiders - The Raiders have been here before but since Al Davis couldn't get a brand new stadium they moved back to Oakland. They have a young core on offense and defense including Darren McFadden and Nnamdi Asomugha.

San Diego Chargers - Probably the most reasonable choice to relocate. They are already in the area and it wouldn't mess up the alignment of the divisions again. Phillip Rivers makes any receiver look good no matter who they are and with Antonio Gates in the lineup, it's tough to stop this team.

St. Louis Rams - Along with the Raiders, the Rams already have a large fan base in Los Angeles since they played here before. Sam Bradford could be something special if he can get some players to throw at. Their defense has some nice pieces including James Laurinaitis and Chris Long.

Please don't bring a Raiders team owned by Al Davis.
Who would you want?

Lakers With An Impressive Road Trip

The Los Angeles Lakers end their road trip with 5 straight wins and 6-1 overall. They beat the Clippers, Nets, Wizards, Pacers, 76ers and Raptors. Their only loss was to the Chicago Bulls.

The Lakers defeated the Toronto Raptors, 120-110, in the road trip finale.

There were five Lakers in double digits including Matt Barnes and Shannon Brown, off the bench.

Los Angeles NFL Stadium Designs Revealed

Earlier this week, the new Los Angeles NFL Stadium designs were released.

They have 3 finalist for the Downtown stadium. The stadium would placed next door to the Staples Center, where part of the Convention Center is right now.

The Stadium is expected to be completed in 2015 if the groups can get an NFL team to come to Los Angeles and with the approval of the NFL.

Dodgers Looking At Three Options For Left Field

The Dodgers still haven't figured out who will be their Opening Day Left Fielder. They signed Tony Gwynn Jr. earlier this off-season.

Bill Hall signed with the Houston Astros last week, forcing the Dodgers to look at other options.

MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports that Marcus Thames, Scott Hairston, and Jerry Hairston are the three new options the Dodgers are looking at. None of them really make me that excited. I'd rather just have Tony Gwynn Jr. play in the LF.

Dodgers should look into trading for another outfielder.

Blake Griffin's Amazing Lay-Up

Blake Griffin can do more than rebound and dunk. Check out this amazing lay-up last night against the Pistons.

First road win of the season for the Clippers. They are now 1-11 on the road.

Kobe Sprains Right Pinkie

Lakers defeated the 76ers, 93-81, to win their 4th straight, all on the road.

Kobe injured his right pinkie finger in the first quarter. The x-rays came back negative and is listed as a pinkie sprain.

Pau Gasol threw a bad pass that the sprained finger, making it difficult for Kobe. "It's sore, it was hard for me to kind of hold the basketball," Bryant said. He only scored nine points, which was a season low.

No need to worry though, we're use to Kobe playing with injured fingers.

Anthony "ShowTime" Pettis Wins UFC Title Shot (Must Watch Video)

I didn't get to see the fight, since i don't get Versus. Also i was watching the Chargers embarrass the 49ers. But I read that Ben Henderson & Anthony Pettis was an instant classic.

It was all tied up heading into the 5th round. The winner of the fight got a title shot at the UFC belt when both companies (WEC/UFC) merge at the end of the year.

This kick was the deciding factor in the fight:

It didn't knock out Henderson, but it was enough to win over the judges. Read More...

Matt Kemp And Rihanna Split

As if this week couldn't get better for Dodgers & Lakers fans.

There are reports that Matt Kemp and Rihanna have split. Maybe now Kemp can get back to his MVP caliber
season he had in 2009.
The alleged sudden break up between the couple was due to cheating on both end.
Kemp learned the hard way, that partying too much can get you in trouble. Rumor has it that Matt was seen leaving a club with two girls last week. He allegedly took the girls home. {Link}
Just waiting to get confirmation from Kemp or Rihanna.

Matt Guerrier Agrees to Three-Year Deal With Dodgers

Well this is a shocker.... The Yankees and Redsox were both looking to sign Matt Guerrier.

Definitely helps out the Dodgers bullpen. After losing George Sherrill (Not really a loss), the Dodgers needed to add some new relievers.

He was one of the best remaining relievers available through free agency. Also since the Twins didn't offer arbitration, the Dodgers won't have to give up any draft picks.

    Contract: 3 years $12M

    Sasha Vujacic Traded To Nets

I have been waiting for this news for a long time and it has finally arrived. Christmas has arrived early this year.

Vujacic and Farmar can certainly help that young Nets team. Give them great insight about what it's like to be on the bench during championship years.

    It was pretty obvious that the Lakers were going to trade Sasha because of his expiring contract. This deal takes $9.24 million of the books. {Link}

    Here's the full trade:
The New Jersey Nets have traded Terrence Williams to the Houston Rockets in a three-way deal that will land them Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic and a pair of first-round draft picks, sources confirmed to ESPN.com.

Lakers also receive Joe Smith. He's a former #1 pick and the Lakers will be his 12th team. Smith will be getting some playing time to help Bynum and Gasol.

I'm just happy I don't have to watch Sasha miss wide open jumpshots with 21 seconds left on the shot clock.

Deal can't be finalized until December 15th.

    Bynum Returns Tonight

The Lakers are finally getting their other big man tonight in Washington. Andrew Bynum returns to the line-up after missing the first 24 games of the 2010-2011 season.

Don't expect Bynum to get 30 minutes a game right away. He has to slowly work his way back to reduce the risk of another injury. Since Theo Ratliff went down with the knee injury, the Lakers have been struggling inside. Pau Gasol has been used way too much since Phil Jackson doesn't have much faith in Derrick Character.

    Bynum told reporters on Monday:
“I just want to go out there. It’s definitely going to be in bursts, either starting or not, it’s going to be quick spurts — five minutes here, five minutes there.”

Kobe Surpasses Havlicek for 11th on All-Time Scoring List

    Congrats to Kobe Bryant!

He finished the game with 23 points, putting him ahead of Havlicek with 26,398 points.

Kobe was 20 points behind Celtics legend John Havlicek for 11th on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

With the Lakers riding a 3-game win streak, they went into Chicago to face Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls.

The Lakers went on a 14-0 run in the 1st quarter, quickly putting the Bulls in a hole. At the end of the first quarter the Lakers led 22-12. Then the Bulls went on their own run to end the second quarter, 19-3 putting them ahead at halftime. It was a horrible shooting half by both teams. Bulls led 36-32.

Lakers continued to not play defense in the third quarter, allowing the Bulls to score 30 points. Bulls went into the 4th with an 8 point lead. Derrick Rose was impressive with 29 points, including 9 coming in the fourth. This was the first time the Bulls have beaten the Lakers since 2006.

Next up on the list is (#10) Dominique Wilkins, who has 26,668 points. If Kobe keeps the same pace all season long, he could end up at #6.
